MSV Mobile Suit Gundam: MSV-R Return of Johnny Ridden

As I remember during last year Hobby Japan issues, there are many works of modeller regarding the MSV-R era. I beginning to research for these MS, and I finally found the source of this "new" design are associated with a  manga work published in 2010 and its still ongoing.

The storyline are the work of the "godfather" of Gundam  Yoshiyulki Tomino and the mecha concept by Hajime Yatate(who did various Gundam series,Aura Battler,The Big O and Cowboy Bebop). To those who are hardcore UC fans might even think some of the design are outrageously funny and cute, But there are a few mecha concept which are outstandingly great!!!

Being me, I would really like to have these manga as a personal collection but to get these (more than 12 books) might cause me a bomb and I seriously doubt that I can get it in Malaysia unless I order it somewhere else. So I have pick up a few scan of the awesome artwork of this manga.

Meaningless War UC0091

While I browsing thru the web, stumble upon some cool Mobile Suit design. The series took place in UC0091 The Meaningless War. It was a first time that I actually know there was MS design in this timeline...slow poke me...acccording to the timeline , these design are prior to Char's Counter Attack or CCA and most probably took place in the Sentinel Gundam era.

Most design are closely based on Zeta Gundam design.I find the design are exceptionally nice and it would be best I share it here for those who has the same interest. Secondly, as a reference for my future builds ...well who knows...

MSZ-015Z Zeta III Gundam "Zeissa Gundam"

Description

"The ZIII Gundam is a new special purpose MS design by Anaheim Electronics based on the design of the ZZ Gundam, ZII and S Gundam. The design was completed quite a while ago but never used because general purpose mobile suits were more popular after the S Gundam generation.
After 0092, the EFF had to prepare for war with Neo-Zeon and began the development of the Nu Gundam for use by Captain Amuro Rey. The ZIII served as a design that led to the development of the Nu Gundam. The unusual characteristics of the Zeta system as a TMS are applied to the ZIII.
When the development project was restarted, Anaheim Electronics did not use the basic frame structure of the first design, but instead a original style created by a new design chief. No expense was spared in its development: bio-sensors, generator, thrusters, armor, all are top of the line. Overall the specs are very high compared to other MS of the era. Much of the design and technology cultivated in the S-Gundam is adopted into the ZIII’s options and parts.
Of noteworthy mention is the equipping of the "I-Shield." The I-Shield spreads Minovsky particles packed together along the armor surface, which can deflect beam weaponry. Minovsky particles have mass, when a beam hits the body, the spread particles repulse the beam back to it’s incoming direction. In this way it acts as a sort of "Reactive Armor". The shield forms instantaneously at the time it is needed but requires enormous amounts of electrical energy. The ZIII also has 2 I-Field generator units mounted on the shoulders with a dedicated sub-generator to power them.
NOTE: "Zeissa" seems to be a Japanese pronunciation of a shortening of "Zeta Third."

RX-274R GundamMk.IV Siren

Description
The Gundam Mk. IV "Siren" is based on two different mobile suit designs, the RX-272 Gundam Mk. III and the PMX-000 Messala. The TMS design was intended to rival the Gundam Mk. V, but the design was too new to ever see combat with the Mk. V. After the initial design, it was found that they couldn’t design a small enough generator.
After the Gryps Conflict the AEUG recovered the second and third suits and moved them to Granada. It is unknown what happed to the first suit, a rumor states that it saw combat in 0091. The second suit was rebuilt using newer parts and technology as a commander’s MS. For armament they improved upon the concept of the Fedayin rifle and called it the Cavalier rifle. Two beam cannons carried on the backpack with direct connections to generator units have a short range but exceed the power of a beam smart gun. Mounted on the shoulders is a pair of Hyper Beam Sabers/Beam Cannons with specs equal to those on the ZZ Gundam. As of 0091, the performance of the finished Siren is highest for a TMS of the time.

Do You Remember Love? Ichigo Hikaru's VF-1J 1/72 from Hasegawa

Do you Remember Love? I just loves this qoute as a title of the Macross movie which actually retell the original Tv series in a different dimension timeline which really doesn't reflect the whole TV series, but has a very close resemblance.

Lynn Minmay, had always been a sweetheart in most Macross fan, which I think surpassed the Macross F, songstress, RankaLee but equivalent status with Sheryl Nome in my own opinion.

Well, Macross had always been a great anime to me. During the 1980's the F-14 Tomcat jet fighter was at the top of the most advance jet fighter and what if, it can turn into a Gerwalk or a bi pedal walking mecha with agility of a trained combatant??? the answer was "The Valkyrie". In Norse mythology, these Valkyrie are depicted as female
figure who has the power to choose who will die in the battle field..sort of a death harbinger...They are also portrayed as lover of heroes in myth.

Last year, while I was searching in a second hand model forum, I accidentally come across a seller who was selling a snapfitted VF-1 model by Hasegawa. I already has a VF-1S Roy Fokker kit from the same manufacturer (actually I liked Roy more than Rick Hunter aka Ichigo Hikaru) but without both of the main character my kit would not be complete..in the market, a new set would cost me RM (Ringgit Malaysia) 100+, yet this seller was selling at RM60 and everything was complete in great condition, only with a few parts which he painted with industrial spray. So without much hesitation I seal the deal.

Within 2 days, the parcel arrived,I'm very satisfied with the kit's condition, just that the painted area seems to have some sign of melted plastic (industrial spray has a higher residue of thinner which could melt model plastic compared to hobby thinner). Then this it become my playmate for 1 week.

I removed the paint with hobby thinner, most came off and the rest I sand it off with abrasives paper. Covered all the seam lines and sand it down. Some panel lines are re scribe due to seam lines covering process. I really admire the level of detail on Hasegawa kits they are just so detail and accurate but the plastic material felt a bit fragile thou.

Here are some of the pics that I had taken of this kit. Was just using a normal digital camera and from the pics, you could see some "handshaking" effects..hope you will enjoy it...

SD Kanetsugu Naoe

Just wanna share a SD built not so long ago, just last year 2010,

This kit also comes with an optional headgear reassembling the Barzam mecha from Z Gundam series
The armor can be remove to display the inner design of the SD Kanetsugu
This kit was actually done with opaque color. But when I was doing the finishing for it, I add in some Green-blue pearl powder with clear gloss, thus giving the model a slight bluish tint. Masking for SD had never been easy and during my time in 2010, I'm enjoyed the masking process, but now I'm more into sanding things...I guess mood plays a part in everything we do.
